Largest Global Gathering of Credit Unions at World Credit Union Conference

Friday, September 8, 2023 – Bringing together more than 3,000 credit union leaders from 60 countries, the World Credit Union Conference in Vancouver, Canada spotlighted good learnings and global goodwill. With a dynamic kickoff, credit unions showed they were there to represent the world’s best – through their institutions and their countries. “The opening ceremonies felt like the Olympics,” says Lisa Lama, Group Account Director for Adrenaline Toronto. “People arrived in traditional wear and waved their country’s flags. It was really inspirational.”  

Co-hosted by World Council of Credit Unions and the Canadian Credit Union Association, the conference focused on opportunities for growth and impact, despite wide-reaching challenges like global conflict, inflation and regulation. “These challenges test our resolve, but they also offer us an opportunity to meet those challenges and show our commitment to a shared purpose of putting people over profit, according to WOCCU President/CEO Elissa McCarter LaBorde in her annual State of the Movement address. “That is the credit union way.” 

From the presentations and keynotes to gatherings on the trade show floor and conference events, attendees had ample opportunities for engagement and development.
